Weightless

Poolside and taking in my last few staycation moments, my thoughts pivot to what lies ahead.

Admittedly, I am full of anxious excitement as my 2020 vision for Empathy Uprise comes full circle. Still, as I near actualization, part of me struggles to get little Alicia out of the pool.

As the hot Central Texas winds blow, things are moving fast as winds of yet another change rattle my windows and doors.

◇ Planning
◇ Struggle
◇ Completion

Have you ever been within striking distance of a dream come true and found that a fear of success suddenly crept in?

I have been at this crossroads once before.

In those days, I was much younger and just starting to get comfortable with life in Gotham and regrettably allowed fear to get the best of me.

However, I am determined not to let that happen again.

When I conceived the mission of Empathy Uprise, to shift humanity from "me" to "we," I knew that opening hands and hearts would be challenging and that opportunity and fear would show up simultaneously.

No matter, as my dear friend J. suggested some time ago, "You are one of the lucky ones, Alicia. You heard the call meant just for you and answered it."

So, there you have it.

As I pull out my suitcase, pack, and ready myself for the journey ahead, what steadies me is a lesson in cloud behavior; like humans, clouds can be both immovable and yet gracefully merge with their surroundings.

Until we meet again, float on. ❤️
