In Trust We Serve

Austin, TX | ©️ 2025 Alicia Kae Miller

I was tickled last week to see a well-decorated bumper full of what struck me as 'preserve and protect' sentiments in the form of old-school stickers as I strolled around one of Austin's oldest neighborhoods.

Lost in the beauty of the Magnolia trees, I stopped dead in my tracks to gauge what was publicly crucial to the vehicle's owner (or whoever had put the stickers on in the first place), and was pleasantly surprised to realize that someone I did not know shared some of my core beliefs.

On that note, I cannot count the number of times this has happened to me over the years when I have endeavored to listen and learn from strangers who, more often than not, have become my dear friends.

When we direct our full attention to one another, we are serving the greater good. Not only do we show our conversation partner(s) the dignity they so richly deserve, but also respect that they bleed red, thus are human, just like us.

Until we meet again, recall that trust creates space for the comfort of fellowship. ❤️

Yours in Solidarity, -akm
