As we taxied down the runway and took flight, tears fell from my eyes and continued to fall, jetting my way to the Lone Star State.

For context, I just returned from spending time with my family, and there is no sense in glossing over the truth. It was a contentious trip. Our goodbye spoke with a tinge of wonder about how we come back from this place where we currently find ourselves.

Has this ever happened to you?

Meaning, have you ever wondered, “how do we come back from this?”

As a life-long learner, I realized long ago that the hard lesson would continue to confront me until I learned. But, once enlightened, we receive liberation from that which no longer serves us.

Empathy in action is like this; when we listen to learn, we do not always have to feel compelled to respond. Often simply agreeing to disagree is a stepping stone in your relationship with others, and more importantly, yourself.

Until we meet again, be a lantern unto the darkness.❤️

Yours in Solidarity, -akm
